22 Students Compete at Atlanta Super Regionals

Mitchell Church of Performance Martial Arts Academy announces the results of a recent Amercian Taekwondo Association tournament.? The Atlanta Super Regionals brought competitors from across the country and Valdosta sent 22 students.? “Our students are very disciplined and represented our community well.”? We have several students who will be State Champions as well as future World Champions in the 2009- 2010 season.” says 5th Degree Black Belt, Mitchell Church.

Leadership Clinic – Jahng Bong / Bo Staff
Well this past Saturday, July 11th, was the new sessions Leadership clinic, covering the use of the Jahng Bong or Bo Staff.?? School Instructor, Mitchell Church (5th degree black belt), turned the instuction over to his 3rd Degree Black Belts, World Champion Jennifer Powell, World Champion Tyler Giddens, State Champion Debra Cox, State Champion Don Cox, and Hahira Instuctor Mr. Smith.
Each instructor covered many different aspect of the Jahng Bong, Mrs. Cox went over the 9 basic strike areas and striking techniques.? While Mrs. Powell covered several blocks, and the importance of hand holding during blocks!?? Mr. Cox went over a few fancier moves like a palm spin and picking up your dropped Jahng Bong with your feet.? While Mr. Giddens went over the figure eight as well as a finger roll figure eight.

Performance Martial Arts Academy – July 4th Party at the Fair
Mr Smith (Hahira Instructor) and Mr. Giddens (World Champion and Valdosta Instructor Trainee), appeared at the July 4th Valdosta Fair, on behalf of the Performance Martial Arts Academy’s Leadership Program, giving free instructions and demonstrations to the public.
While its fun to party with the public, breaking boards and hitting pads, the Leadership Program also passed on its goals such as: Courtesy, Respect, Honor Integrity, Loyalty, Perseverance, and a proper Attitude in life. all Part of the American Taekwondo Association’s Life Skills. After the hot Georgia day everyone enjoyed the spectacular fireworks show!
